ARTIST STATEMENT

 

Tami Poliwoda creates brightly coloured imaginative animations full of whimsical and diverse characters. She portrays themes of youthful exploration, vibrancy, and enhanced nature. She explores issues of mental health from her personal experience. These themes present themselves in joyful and honest animations that surpass the boundaries of nature. The visual content juxtaposes with the subject matter to allow the viewer to suspend disbelief and escape the present. She does not believe in creating animations that can easily be replaced by live action. For that reason, Tami’s animations are constantly pushing at the boundaries of realism.
